The Užice town is a medieval fortress erected most probably in the second half of 14th century to protect Užice and caravan road, which along the Đetinja valley connected Morava valley with Dubrovnik valley, but also Bosnia, Herzegovina and Adriatic Sea coast.

The fortress is placed on a high steep rock that slopes into the Đetinja river, which surrounds it from three sides and prevents the access. Today, only remains of walls, towers and building one meter high remained after devastation, but still the former look of the fortification may be anticipated.

It represents one of the tourist attractions of a town on the river Đetinja, where an improvised theatre is set up during summer months, and where shows are performed under the combination of moonlight and spotlights. It is one of the favorite resorts of the inhabitants of Užice.
