Short info - Dimitrovgrad
Dimitrovgrad is the town in the municipality of the same name and it belongs to Pirot District. It has a population of about 7000 people and takes an area of 185 sqm.
Archeological researches show that the first settlements in this territory date from eneolithic period which is transitional period between neolithic and the bronze age. Good geographic position is the reason this territory was important during ancient period in connecting East and West.
The first name of this town was Caribrod, and after the World War Two it was named Dimitrovgrad after Georgi Dimitrov, Bulgarian president.

Velika pećina (The Great Cave) is situated near the village of Držine, 7 km away from Pirot. It is 1440 m long and 30 m high. The cave is one of the most beautiful caves in the rugged landscape of eastern Serbia.
Pećina Vladikine Ploče (Bishop’s Plates) is situated in the homonymous gorge between the villages Pakleštica and Rsovci. The caves system is interesting because of the remains which suggest that it was home to the Prehistoric man.

The Church of St Nicholas
The Church of St Nicholas is situated in Krupac. The church was built in the second half of the 17th century. It has a small dimensions, its ground form is rectangular, with altar apse.
