Donji Milanovac

Short info - Donji Milanovac

Donji Milanovac belongs to Municipality of Majdanpek and is located in Bor District. This town is 56 m above sea level and has over 3.000 inhabitants.


Donji Milanovac once were known by the name of Poreč, and actual name got by Knez Milan Obrenović, the son of Knez Miloš. This town was founded in XIX century on one island on the Danube. Because of the frequent floods, Knez Miloš ordered its dislocation, so Milanovac was the first town built by town-planning scheme in Serbia. After hydropower plant Đerdap I was built the town was relocated on its actual site. It is the center of national park “Đerdap” and Đerdapska klisura (Iron gate Danube).

Donji Milanovac is located on the right bank of the Danube, on the road M 25/1 Požarevac - Kladovo. In this little town you can enjoy walking in the large city parc and along the promenade.
