The symbol of the city of Prizren is the stone bridge which was destroyed in 1979 during floods, but it was renovated when it got its original appearance..


Having in mind that Prizren is the oldest and the most important town on Kosovo and Metohija, remnants of many fortress can be found there. In Prizren you can see:



- Kaljaja - This Byzantine fortress from XI century once was the capital of Serbian Empire. Today the fortress is in ruins, but its monumentality still can be seen.

- Višegrad - This fortress is 3 km far from Prizren and is located in the canyon of the Bistrica river. The fortress was used as an outpost of Prizren. Today it is a monastery fortress and is composed of Gornji grad or citadel, and Donji grad, and between them there are two walls.

- Bogorodica Ljeviška church - This church is a private foundation of King Milan, and it was built in 1306-07. The basis of the church is in the shape of the cross, and it has five turrets. Side walls of the XI century church were used for the new church. The oldest frescoes in this church are from XIII century. The church is on Unesco’s list of the world cultural heritage.

- St. Archangels Monastery - This monastery is a private foundation of King Dušan the Mighty, and it belongs to Raško-prizrenska Eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The monastery was built in the period between 1343 and 1352, but the Turks destroyed it in 1615 and used its material for building the mosque of Sinan Pasha. After the World War Two works on reconstructing of the monastery continued. The church in this complex is dedicated to Saint Archangels Michael and Gabriel.

- Sinan Pasha Mosque
- This islamic religious building was build in 1615. It belongs to classical Ottoman style. On its interior wall there is an inscription which says “đenet misali”, which means “similar to paradise”. The interior of the mosque is devided in two parts: one for praying and the other where mihrab is. The ornaments of islamic tradition are painted on the walls. Above the mosque there is a turret..
