Canyon of Lazareva reka (Lazar’s River) is one of the most impressive elements of the relief of mountain Kučaj, and one of the most important centers of diversity of plants and trees in the Balkans.

With an overall length of 9km, with its wild cliffs, numerous sandbanks, gaps and caves, it is the longest and the deepest canyon in eastern Serbia.

The narrowest part is only 3-4 feet wide. The depth reaches up to 500 meters.

In some places, the river passes between the stone blocks, which make up the natural bridges. Due to the large expanses of oak and beech forests, which are centuries old, access to the canyon is difficult.

Lazar’s Canyon is under the state protection.
