The Ibar flows through the southern part of Serbia and the eastern part of Montenegro. The total length of the river is 276 km and it has a catchment area of 8059 sq km. It is part of the Black Sea drainage basin.


The average flow at the mouth is 60m3s. The Ibar is not a navigable river. Some of the important left tributaries are the Raška (Rascia) and the Studenica, and the most important right tributaries are the Sitnica and Jošanica.



In Kraljevo, the most visited tourist event “Veseli spust” (Happy descending) is being organized, the whole-day Ibar river rafting in improvised vessels.
