Monastery Decani is located 17 km south from Pec. It is surrounded by chestnut trees and tall pines. Monastery is endowment of king Stefan Uros III Decanski from XIV century.

The monastery has been preserved over 1000 individual figures and scenes from the history of Christianity. During the mid XIV century an interesting series of portraits of Nemanjic dinasty are painted.


With monastery Chilandar, Deacni treasury is one of the richest monastery treasury in whole Serbian history with about 60 icons from XIV till XVII century, large number of books and religious objects of immense artistic value.


Because of its beauty, architectural and artistic value and wealth of the treasury, in 2004. Decani was included in the UNESCO list of World cultural and natural heritage.Because of the unstable situation prevailing in Kosovo, visit to the monastery is possible only with military escort of KFOR.
